The Bozeman Curling Club League season is under way!
We have a completely full league again this year with 18 teams on Thursday night, and 25 teams on Sunday. With a start of the new season I thought I would post a few notes and reminders:
Setup:
- We often see the same people doing all the setup. If you are scheduled for the first draw, please show up early and help to make sure we get setup on time (many hands make light work)
- Teams on Sheets 2&4 are responsible for setup. If you are hesitant about what to do please ask, and if you are interested please ask about how to pebble.
- We are going to setup two houses on each side of the rink, this means pushing one cart to the opposite end, but it makes setup quicker and leads to less crowding during play.
- The hacks and pebblers reside in the Zam room in the front left corner
- Please keep the paired sets of stones together; i.e. A Yelllows, A Reds; B Yellows B Reds; Play it Again Sports Red and Yellows, and the Red and Blue handled stone.
Play:
- I have tried to give enough time for every draw to have 95 minutes of playing time for 6 draws, which should be plenty, however because of delays getting setup on the first draw, please be reasonable with the start times.
- Please, don't start a new end with less 10 minutes before the next draw, or 15 minutes before our hardstop of being off the ice of 11pm on Thursday and 8:15 pm on Sunday.
- We are going to play with the 5 rock free-guard rule. i.e. Opposing teams guards can't be removed until the 6th rock played by either side.
- Please follow good curling etiquette and if you have questions please ask other skips. Look for more information on this to follow.
Tear-down:
- For teardown, when you are done with your game please remove the stones from the ice onto the same cart (i.e. closest to the side you started on)
- Please wait until all the stones have been removed from the ice before removing the hacks with water (we have had bad falls including injuries from people slipping on the water from removing the hacks).
- Please use hot water from the Zam room to remove the hacks this keeps the ice strong where the hacks are located and reduces blow outs, but again after all the stones are off
- The hacks and pebblers reside in the corner of the Zam room
- Please lock the curling shed door and close all the doors onto the ice for the zam guy.
